Apple has pushed out another update for the iPhone and iPad with what it says are “important bug fixes.” However, the company has been mum on specifics, failing to disclose the nature of bugs and the fixes.

Rolled out on Monday, iOS 18.2.1 and iPadOS 18.2.1 come almost a month after the release of version 18.2 and in advance of version 18.3, which is likely to launch later this month or early February.

iOS 18.2 introduced a number of Apple Intelligence features, such as ChatGPT integration, the Image Playground, Genmoji, and the Image Wand. iOS 18.3 will likely be less feature-packed but should still be important as Apple unveils more AI-powered skills.

So where does that leave iOS/iPadOS 18.2.1? Apple’s Security Releases page doesn’t provide much info on this one except to say that the update has no published CVE entries. That means no security vulnerabilities that would have been reported to or recorded by the official Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures catalog.

Another interesting tidbit is that only the iPhone and iPad have received this latest update. The Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro remain at their previous OS levels. Typically, Apple updates all its devices in one fell swoop, so whatever bugs are afoot clearly affect only iOS and iPadOS.

ZDNET has reached out to Apple to try to get more details on the updates and will report back with any new information.

The latest iOS and iPadOS updates are aimed at the iPhone XS and later, the 13-inch iPad Pro, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 3rd generation and later, the 11-inch iPad Pro 1st generation and later, the iPad Air 3rd generation and later, the iPad 7th generation and later, and the iPad mini 5th generation and later.

To update your iPhone or iPad, head to Settings, go to General, and select Software Update. Tap the Update Now button to download and install the new version.
