Apple products, including iPads, MacBooks, iPhones, and Apple Watches, are rarely on sale outside of such sales events or the time of year new lineups are announced, but if you know where to look, there are still some worthwhile discounts on top Apple tech. Over at Amazon, you can find savings on a wide range of consumer tech, home products, apparel, toys, and much more when the Prime Day event formally launches. Our favorite deal ahead of October Prime Day is for an Apple MacBook Air. At the moment, you can save $70 on this laptop, which is part of the tech giant’s 2024 lineup.
If you’re in the market for a thin and light laptop that will see you through for years to come, this laptop might be the right fit for you. It comes with a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, 8GB RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and an M3 processor. Apple says this laptop will be compatible with Apple Intelligence when it lands.
We might see a further cut in price as October Prime Day rolls around, but this isn’t guaranteed.

- Original price: $549
Apple’s AirPods Max line of over-headphones is distinctive and comes in a wide range of colors, from Starlight to Space Gray. If, however, you’re not too fussy regarding a color choice, you can save $120 on a brand new pair. The caveat is that this discount only currently applies to some colors, such as pink. Still, this discount drastically reduces the price of these premium headphones.
- Current price: $224
- Original price: $329
An iPad is an investment piece and one that can easily cost over $1,000 for the latest, most advanced options. Even if an iPad is older, however, this doesn’t mean it isn’t perfectly capable of handling daily tasks, such as checking out social media or streaming content. It’s true this 64GB model on sale is an older style of iPad and it is one that is powered by the somewhat elderly A13 processor, but with a price point of only $224, it still remains one of our favorite deals.
We expect more Apple deals to appear over the next week or so. Below, we have compiled a comprehensive guide on the best early Apple deals and will update as new sales appear.

October Prime Day FAQs
When is Amazon’s October Prime Day 2024?
Amazon’s 2024 dates for October Prime Day are Oct. 8 and Oct 9. The 48-hour event will launch at 12:01 a.m. PDT on Oct. 8. While many deals will be exclusive to Prime members, you can still take advantage of sales. You could also consider signing up for a trial membership while the event is active for the best deals.
Are Apple products really cheaper on Prime Day?
Apple products can be cheaper on Prime Day and similar events, but there are often only a handful of real showstopper sales — and most of these will be of limited stock. Retailers will often shift older products to make way for the new around such sales events, and you can often also enjoy excellent deals on refurbished stock.
How did we choose these October Prime Day deals?
ZDNET keeps a finger on the pulse of the consumer tech market. Our deal finders have extensive experience finding the best bargains for our readers, and they only recommend interesting products they would like to buy.
We like to showcase products that are at least 20% off and those that are rarely found on sale — and this, of course, includes Apple products. ZDNET authors also use price comparison tools and trackers to determine the value of deals we highlight in our guides.
Furthermore, we keep customer reviews and feedback in mind, and some of our recommendations may be based on our own purchases and hands-on testing.
